Join us in supporting a great cause and a great team this hockey season as we donate $1.60 from every order (up to $16k) to support the Zucker Family Suite and Broadcast Studio at University of Minnesota’s Masonic Children’s Hospital.
The Zuckers know about making someone’s day.
When Jason Zucker met superfan Tucker Helstrom in 2016, not only did it make Tucker’s day, it touched Jason and wife Carly’s life in a way they couldn’t have anticipated.
Tucker was battling osteosarcoma – a rare blood cancer – at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. Jason happened to walk into his hospital room by chance, on what turned out to be his first of many visits.
The two bonded over hockey, video games, and real talk. “You need to backcheck harder and shoot more!” Tucker often encouraged Jason. Tucker may have been Jason’s #1 fan, but it was Tucker who grabbed ahold of the Zucker’s hearts with his positive energy and bright spirit.
Tucker lost his battle with osteosarcoma in July of 2016. He was just 9 years old.
In a 2018 article for The Players’ Tribune, Jason recalls, “There aren’t many days that go by when Carly and I don’t think about him. Every time I look at my wrist, I see the tattoo I got with his autograph and his advice: SHOOT MORE! He’s with me everywhere I go. And he’s why Carly and I have started the #Give16 campaign.”
The GIVE16 campaign began when the Zucker family made an initial commitment of $160,000 to fund the Zucker Family Suite and Broadcast Studio. The Zucker family’s initial donation served as a launching pad for others in the community to be involved and raise funds. Through GIVE16 campaigns, events and community involvement, GIVE16 quickly raised over $1 million dollars to bring the space to life.
The Zucker Family Suite and Broadcast Studio is a dual-purpose space that marries Jason’s NHL career and Carly’s broadcast career. Programming produced in the broadcast studio ranges from music request hours to game shows, celebrity visits and more. The space also replicates the experience of a Minnesota Wild suite, with a ticketed entrance, food and beverage options, a large projection screen and two NHL goal lights that go off when the Wild score, creating an unforgettable experience for families unable to leave the hospital.
The Zucker Family Suite has already made a significant impact on young patients and their families since it opened early 2019. In order to keep the space open and continue programming GIVE16 needs continued support helps to maintain the momentum which is why Bite Squad is proud to partner to support the Zucker family.
For every Bite Squad order placed with promo code GIVE16 during hockey season, we will donate $1.60 to GIVE16, up to $16k. You’ll also get a $1.00 discount applied to your order, as a thank you for helping us donate!
In addition, Bite Squad will be providing delivery for patients and families while they enjoy Minnesota Wild games in the Zucker Family Suite and Broadcast Studio throughout this upcoming hockey season.
