Veteran Spotlight: Anthony O’Neal

Bicycle Courier in Honolulu, Hawaii

With his love of the outdoors, it’s no wonder former U.S. Army Specialist Anthony O’Neal  spends his days doing bicycle deliveries on the beautiful island of Hawaii.

As a combat medic with the 10th mountain division in the 2/22 infantry regiment, Anthony served for four years, from 2000-2004, including in Bosnia and Afghanistan. And in August of this year, he joined Bite Squad as a bicycle courier in Honolulu.

We recently chatted with Anthony about his military experience and working for Bite Squad.

What has being in the military taught you that you apply to your job at Bite Squad?
I would have to say that being in the military has helped me to adapt to all kinds of challenges; I never give up and I welcome all types of challenges.

What challenges do you encounter delivering food by bicycle in Honolulu?
I always approach challenges as a problem that needs to be solved and solve it. I have had no real challenges other than biking around town, but I look at it as fun and exercise.

What do you like most about working at Bite Squad?
I enjoy my job doing bicycle delivery in the same way I enjoyed the military because it gets me out exploring and seeing new things, enjoying the fresh air and meeting new people.

What do you like to do for fun when you’re not working?
One of my favorite things to do when I am off is hiking with my wife Kara, and enjoying the beautiful Hawaii weather.

Mahalo, Anthony, for your service both to our country, and to our customers. We’re honored to have you as part of the squad!
