3 Ways Doing Your Taxes Impacts ‘What’s for Dinner’

Tax Day is Coming!

Tax Day, April 17th, is just around the corner! If you’re feeling the impact of doing your taxes at meal times, you’re not alone. In fact, we recently learned 1 in 3 Americans claim they eat differently around income tax preparation time.

Bite Squad recently conducted an online survey to explore U.S. consumers’ attitudes towards food and income taxes and found, for a third of us, tax-time has a real impact on the way we think about how and what we eat.

Here are three revelations about how preparing income taxes may change meal-time behavior.

1. We want to save money on food

Whether you plan to cook more, or figure you’ll just eat less, finding ways to save money on food around tax time is foremost in our minds. It’s no surprise, really, that we’re looking to pinch pennies while calculating how much of our hard-earned dollars will go to taxes. Luckily, lots of restaurants offer deals, discounts and even freebies on Tax Day. Bite Squad is offering a little tax relief of our own with 7.5% off delivery* on April 17th.

2. We eat to deal with stress

Unprepared? Can’t pay what you owe? Tax-time stress is real, folks! Filing your taxes can be overwhelming and difficult – for some of us, we ease the burden with food. When it comes to stress eating there are two camps: those that plan to eat healthier to help them cope, and those who feel eating more will soothe the pain. From superfoods to comfort foods, what we eat is often related to our moods. And for many, current mood = stress.

3. We don’t have time to cook

For procrastinators (you know who you are), time is running short to get your paperwork together, leaving little time to think about things like cooking or food. It’s OK, you’re our people – the ones who turn to restaurant delivery services, or takeout, to keep you fueled up as you race the clock. The convenience of on-demand delivery can be a real a lifesaver when crunched for time – with just a few taps or clicks sustenance is on the way!
